Dear follow rowingbikers,

This year, we will meet in the center of France for the ‘yearly rowingbike tour on June 30 and July 1 2018.
Esther, my wife and I have the honor to organise the event around our holiday home in Condat-en-Combraille (63) in France.
This is a small village in a very quiet corner of France with a lot of places to discover. Just next to our village is the picturesque département La Creuse with its small routes, it’s hills, lakes, forests, small rivers, beautiful old farms and numerous castles.

The département du Puy de Dôme is more rough and open and there are magnificent views to be found. The mountain the Puy de Dôme (alt 1465) itself is forbidden for bicycles. However, that is not regrettable, because next to the Puy de Dôme is the massif the Sancy (alt. 1886m). The highest cols that can be conquered by road bike are at 1465m.

The participants
At this moment, 12 Dutch participants have confirmed their participation: 10 rowinbikes and 1 rowingbike tandem (Theo and Annemieke). Some will be accompanied by their partner.
Probably, my club mates from the local cycling club (all french) will join us on their road bikes. You are also welcome to ride a racing bike or even an electric bike if you prefer that.

The itineraries
I am preparing 2 routes for each day: 1 of about 60 km and 1 of 100 km. Because the area is not flat at all, I count with an average speed of 20 km / hour, meaning that you will be rowing 3 to 5 hours per day.
We will start in the morning and the 2 groups will meet and eat at the same place at noon in a small restaurant or in the parc or town square and enjoy a picnic. We continue with the second half of the tour in the afternoon.

Eating and lodging
In the evenings we will prepare a meal for those who want to participate: Friday, Saturday and Sunday.
The participants from the Netherlands will arrive on Friday.
For lodging, we have 6 beds in our house and we will rent the house next door with another 3 bedrooms / 6 persons. First come, first served. Next, there is a camping at 800 m. The capacity of the bathrooms does not make it possible to camp in the garden.
