London – Edinburgh – London 2009: Theo Homan completes 1400 km in 3 days and 6 hours

Over 600 long-distance specialists, mainly on racing bikes, at the start and Theo lets only one German, one Irishman, and four Italians, all on racing bikes, finish ahead of him. An enormous achievement, as during all the climbing the rowing bike is simply slower than the racing bike. Theo just kept riding for those three days, only three hours of sleep on the 2nd night and then kept going!

Recumbent bicycle shell Derk Thijs and Bram Moens
Oslo in 1997 (543 km non stop)

This very fast recumbent bike shell, also designed and built by Derk Thijs and Bram Moens, unfortunately only partially realized its record potential. Only Trondheim – Oslo in 1997 (543 km non stop) was won by Bram Moens in 13 hours and 46 minutes. A fun detail is that during the race, when it became clear that Bram was heading for a generous victory, the regulations were changed, resulting in the first place (and the associated prize money) being awarded to the first finishing road cyclist. Furthermore, since this “recumbent bike victory,” no recumbent bikes have been allowed to participate in this event!
